Project Partners

REG Greenburn Limited is a joint venture between two well-established companies

  • REG Power Management, established in 2005, is a developer, owner and operator of renewable energy projects, having developed and built over 1GW of operational wind and solar projects in the UK, Poland and Canada

  • Electricity Supply Board (ESB), Ireland’s state-owned electricity utility company, has more than 7,000 employees and provides power to over 1.5 million customers

Economic Benefits

The development will create direct and indirect economic benefits, including:

• supporting the employment and economic targets in the East Ayrshire Economic Development Strategy and the Ayrshire Regional Economic Strategy:

• creating the potential for local jobs, during construction and once the wind farm is operational;

• delivering supply chain benefits for local businesses at construction and operation and maintenance stages; and

• bringing benefits for accommodation providers and food/drink outlets from worker expenditure.

Community Benefits

All the communities within a 10km radius of the consented wind farm have already helped to shape a community benefit package that best meets local needs and wishes: this will be administered by the 9CCG. A wide range of community benefit options were considered, from capital funding and local regeneration to support for local groups and clubs.

Should we be successful in securing a ‘Consent’, the Greenburn Wind Energy Park will then be constructed. Once it is built and operational – expected 2027 -  it will start delivering community benefit.

We have committed to setting up a community benefit fund to the value of £5,000 per installed MW which could mean up to £315,000 each year for 35 years (based on current turbine numbers and their expected capacity).  We expect to shortly sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the 9CCG on this basis.
